This conversion kit gives you the opportunity to convert or upgrade a Series III 88 inch Land Rover into a stylish soft top with a heavy-duty bar set and traditional Exmoor Trim canvas hood.
The kit includes a full bar set and drain channels with all the required hardware for fitting as well as a premium quality canvas hood.
The Hood
Fits from the windscreen to the rear of the vehicle on all short wheelbase 88” Series III Land Rovers
Exmoor Trim retain all the original drawings for these hoods dating back to the pre-production 80” vehicles. This enables us to still manufacture the correct specification hood for your Land Rover.
Today we still follow the same methods of manufacture and ensure that the hoods are correct to the OEM fitted parts of that era.
The hoods come in a choice of colours, Sand, Khaki and Black. Rear windows are fitted as standard, side windows are optional (choose the WSW option if you would like side windows).
Whichever version you choose we make sure that the same rollup straps are used which enable you to roll up the sides and the rear panels when required, a truly great way to enjoy a Land Rover.
The Bar Set
Manufactured in the UK, this high-quality bar set includes all the hardware required to fit it your Defender.
The hoops are fabricated from 50mm steel tube, and the entire frame is finished with a durable Silver Galvanising.
Once the roof, side panels & rear door of your vehicle have been removed, installation of the bars is a straight forward DIY job.
The bar set includes
- Front and rear hoop
- Interim hoop and connecting horizontal tie bars
- Pair of over door drain channel
- Pair of side of door drain channel
- Screen rail
- Fitting kit with all the side of body rope hooks, nuts, bolts, washers, and rivets needed for assembly
Seat Belt
The front hoop of the bar set hasbuilt in seatbelt mounts. This means you have the relevant mounting required for three-point inertia seat belts. This is a significant upgrade on vehicles of this age as they were typically fitted with lap belts or a soft top seat belt bar that mounted the top point of the belt below should hight, making it quite uncomfortable on longer journeys
Please Note:
If you are converting a 88”hard top, you will need to replace the rear door or modify your own. The hood and bar set will work with either a swing-away half door or a drop-down tail gate.
